Mama Smiles, Knowing Better

Transcription
Time weighs heavily on the scales of valuation for something so light of foot, so determined to out-run us; they say we can't even own it—it comes to us as a loan—even this poem is near halfway done—it's time to realize that we owe time only itself, not ourselves. It's time to dwell with beauty and love—which are uninterested and unbroken by...that unimportant thing—, with the warmth breaking over the bay, bathing us here, today, together. I know you know the warmth of her smile, your Mama's, I feel it too because...I'm here with you. I so clearly see the joy of her life in your eyes, her care that dabs them dry, and just the same, satiates the thirst for life and light in mine...thank you mama!
