In places where the four seasons hold sway, where the elements teach us in their natural way the cycle of ourselves, our springing forth with our birth into the world, the hot heyday of our prime in Summer, our falling to a slower pace in middle age, our winters of content when we look back from restful days of white and grey on just how far we've come... In these places (unlike here in this peninsula of constant sun and rain), Mother Nature, in her quiet winter refrain prepares a tapestry for the world,, a pretty lacey pattern of all the coming green blooms and blossoming flowers, the pinks and yellows and blues and all the other sleeping hues, contrasts, before Spring dreaming in their bowers, she weaves her needle and thread from tree to tree, through snow-capped flower beds, winding through fields and forests until the very moment winter ends...and then...winter hides its head, the snow gives way, and the great flower-lace design called Spring reveals its perfect face.
